Gardener's Dictionary: Compost
Compost (n.): A mixture of decomposing vegetable refuse, manure, etc., for fertilizing and conditioning soil. Compost is often turned into fertilizer through the use of red worms (called vermicomposting), which will rapidly decompose the organic matter into nutrient-rich worm castings. Balcony container gardeners can make vermicomposting bins to make compost in their balcony gardens.
