Gardener's Dictionary: Neutral soil pH
Neutral (adj.): Soil with a reading of 7.0 on the pH scale. Potting soil pH can be measured with a pH test kit. Most container plants do better if the soil is on the acidic side, but some do better in alkaline conditions (such as desert plants and vegetables).
