Gardener's Dictionary: Hybrid
Hybrid (n.): Crosses between different plant varieties or species, intentionally bred for certain characteristics. Hybrid flowers may produce longer-lasting, larger and more colorful blooms than either of the two genetically different “parent” plants. Many hybrid flowers produce less pollen and nectar, and therefore are inappropriate for butterfly or hummingbird gardens.
