Gardener's Dictionary: Anther

Anther (n.): The part of the male reproductive structure of the flower that bears pollen. Other reproductive parts of the flower are the filament (holds the anther), stigma, style, ovary, and ovules (future seeds). The filament and anther make up the stamen (male reproductive organ), and the entire female reproductive organ is called the gynoecium, which contains the stigma, style, ovary and ovule.
