Rosaceae (n.): The rose family Rosaceae is a very large family composed of 95 genera and almost 3,000 species. The family contains herbs, shrubs and trees, including fruit trees (apples, cherries, peaches), nut trees (almonds), fruits (raspberries, strawberries) and ornamental trees and shrubs (cotoneaster, hawthorns, meadowsweets, roses). This family is one of the most economically important crop families.
