Gardenia (n.): Gardenia is a genus containing 142 species of flowering evergreen shrubs and small trees. The flowers can be single flowers or in flower clusters. Many species have flowers with a strong sweet scent. Gardenia favorites in the garden include the Gardenia jasminoides (called common gardenia, cape jasmine) varieties and Gardenia thunbergia (starry gardenia).
